Handsworth Grange Reporters Interview Sheffield's Olympic hopeful - Jessica Ennis

On Friday 10th February 2012 Maisie and Stefen interviewed Jessica Ennis for the BBC School Report.

Jessica Ennis

Maisie and Stefen from Handsworth Grange Community Sports College accompanied Mr Burrows to the Sheffield Institute of Sport to a media day organised by Jessica Ennis' management company. We teamed up with Mark Ansell from BBC Radio Sheffield and a camerman from Leeds to interview Jessica who had taken a short break from her Olympic preparations.

When we arrived, we were escorted up to the media centre into a room full of reporters. They represented national and local newspapers, local radio stations and national and international TV companies.

We had time to prepare our questions before we watched the official Press Conference. We then had to wait for our slot to interview Jessica.  We initially had our slot confirmed as 11.10, but as this time approached, we were put back. Eventually we were told that we were on after Jessica’s live interview on Sky Sports News.  We watched her being interviewed live and then had our chance!

Jessica was really lovely, and answered all our questions well. We even made her laugh when we asked her about her own PE lessons!!

It was a fantastic day and the most amazing opportunity!!

We would like to thank Jessica Ennis for being so lovely to us, she happily signed some autographs for us and posed for some photographs (she even allowed Mr Burrows to be in one of them!).

We would also like to thank everyone at the BBC who helped us, and to Mr Burrows and Mrs Clarke for accompanying us and allowing us to have the once in a lifetime opportunity.
